The earth has always been called mother.
Not as metaphor. Not as sentiment. As precise description of what the earth actually does. It holds what cannot hold itself. It receives what falls to it without judgment. And in that receiving, it gives something back that cannot be obtained any other way.
Four generations, held by the same ground.
The Minangkabau (min-ang-KAH-bow) of West Sumatra, with more than four million people, built their entire civilization on this understanding. Social prestige belongs to those who promote the wellbeing of the collective. Power is relational. The Haudenosaunee (hoh-dee-noh-SHAW-nee) clan mothers of North America governed by the same principle. The feminine line carried the deepest intelligence forward, not because women were without challenge, but because they stayed closest to what the earth was actually teaching.
Power does not come from the absence of difficulty. It comes from what you receive when difficulty brings you closest to the ground.
I have not learned this only from ancient societies. I have learned it from watching my firstborn daughter move through this world for thirty-five years.
Every time the earth held her, it was giving her something. Frequencies. Signals. A knowing that only comes from being close enough to the ground to actually listen. What appeared to be falling was, all along, the earth pulling her closer, gifting her a power that would transmute into visible outcomes, multiplying for herself and for others.
She never called herself disabled. She called herself differently abled. And from that foundation she built the Sowo Group, a firm that helps young people from five to twenty-five unlock the genius that was always there.
