Something is asking more of you than the world has prepared you for.
Not more productivity.
Not more strategy.
Not more content.
More roots.
We are living through a moment unlike any in modern memory. The systems we were handed are trembling. The stories we were given about progress, about leadership, about what it means to be human, they are showing their cracks. And in the noise of all of it, in the scroll and the speed and the artificial intelligence that can now write a speech, paint a portrait, and predict a disease - a quiet question keeps rising:
|
|
What do we lose when we build the future without the wisdom of the past?
|
The ancients were not waiting for us to catch up. They were already there.
Centuries before satellites, Polynesian navigators read the stars, the ocean currents, the flight patterns of birds, and crossed thousands of miles of open water without instruments, arriving precisely where they intended. The Dogon people of Mali knew that Sirius had a companion star, invisible to the naked eye, long before Western telescopes could locate it. Ancient Egyptian architects aligned their temples to celestial events with a mathematical precision that still humbles contemporary engineers.

They were not guessing. They were listening. They understood something we are only beginning to recover: that the universe communicates. That the ethers, the electromagnetic fields, the frequencies moving through the atmosphere, and the human body are not separate from intelligence. They are intelligence. The ancient ones did not divide science from spirit. They knew them as the same conversation.
They lived fully in their present. And yet they built for five hundred years forward. Not because they could predict the future - but because they understood that what we do now, how we treat the earth now, what we teach the children now, echoes across generations we will never meet.
|
The future is not next year. It is two hundred years from now. Five hundred. It is in the eyes of the child looking up at you - with belief, with hope - trusting that you have prepared something worthy of their arrival. |
|

What does it mean to stand at the place where the ancient and the future meet? How do you carry both without losing either? I have been living that question my entire life - not as a philosopher, but as a practitioner.
Between the drum and the algorithm. Between Yoruba cosmology and organizational strategy. Between the stone in my pocket and the laptop open on my desk. Between the elders who taught me how to listen to the earth and the grandchildren who are inheriting what we build right now.

There is an intersection where the ancient and the future meet. Not everyone can stand there.

Not because it is exclusive. But because you cannot stand there as a performance. You have to be built for it - by lineage, by calling, by decades of refusing to pretend that these two worlds do not belong together.
That is what an Ancient Futurist is. Not a trend. Not an aesthetic. A way of being that is urgently, undeniably needed - and that you, if you are reading this, may already be living.
We are not suffering from a lack of information.
We are suffering from a lack of roots.
And the technology - used with ethics, with intention, with reverence for what came before - was always meant to serve that. Not replace the ancient. Complete it.
This newsletter is where that conversation begins. What lives inside The Ancient Futurist is where it goes deep.

BECOME A MEMBER
The Mbongi Circle
The Mbongi is one of the oldest governance models on earth - rooted in Kongo philosophy and practiced, under different names, by indigenous communities across the world. It is a circle where every voice matters, where individual perspective strengthens the whole, and where people -families, leaders, seekers, builders - come together not for groupthink, but for collective understanding. Truth-seeking. Resolution. The well-being of the whole.

The Mbongi Circle is the membership home of The Ancient Futurist.
It is where the newsletter goes deeper. Where the teaching goes further. Where the community gathers - across distance, across difference - around the same fire.
As a member, you receive:
â The Ancient Futurist Episode - monthly audio-video teaching, deep and unfiltered
â Weekly Mbongi Drop - a short provocation or truth to carry into your week
â Monthly Live Circle - real-time, voice-to-voice, no algorithm between us
â The Ancient Futurist Library - articles, books, recordings, and retreat content from three decades of work
â First access to all retreats, courses, and Violet's Light before they open publicly
This is not a content subscription. It is a circle. And the founding window is open now.

â A BIRTHDAY OFFERING â
This Circle Begins With a Gift.
May is my birth month. And in the spirit of the Mbongi - where the gathering is the gift, where showing up for one another is the practice - I am opening the first doors of The Ancient Futurist in the only way that feels true.
With my hands open.
I am offering 14 complimentary founding memberships to The Mbongi Circle - one full year, my gift to you, no cost. Not because the Circle is not worth paying for. Because some people are meant to be at the beginning of something - and I want to make sure cost is not the reason they are not in the room.
These 14 spaces are for the ones who have been reading, listening, and following this work. The ones who already know something is here. The ones who feel the call but needed this moment of permission to enter.

THE WORK
Baobab Leadership Activationâ˘
We are not short on leaders. We are short on leaders who know who they are.
The Baobab is the oldest living tree on earth. It does not survive by growing tall and fast. It survives by growing deep; roots that reach further than any branch, a hollow that holds life, an ecosystem that feeds everything around it simply by being what it is.
That is the leader this moment is asking for.
Not louder.
Not faster.
Deeper.
The Baobab Leadership Activation⢠is a 12-week online training course rooted in African and indigenous ancestral wisdom, ecological intelligence, and embodied leadership. Not information. Formation. There is a difference.
Go as far back as you can.
Bring something forward.
